Wines From Around The World

Kent Wine & Spirit has selected over 50 different wines, each representing the best of the best in red, white, rose' and "stickies".

Sample the best available wines in all price ranges!

Featued wines will include Cal-cult Cabernet, Burgundy whites, Provence Rose's, a myriad of Malbec's, sweet wines, Super-Tuscan finds, Prosecco and hard-to-get-Spanish.

Hotel Spring Cleanup.
This is the day we all look forward to every year because fortunately it only happens once a year. 
We certainly can use your help in sprucing up the Hotel for our summer visitors. Windows, floors, furniture, landscaping, etc, etc. 
Please come for a few hours if you can.

General Membership Meeting & Pot Luck Dinner

All are welcome to attend our GMM to learn more about the Merwinsville Hotel and our restoration project.  Mason Lord of HVP will be previewing our latest 3D architectural drawings of the hotel in preparation for our grant writing efforts.
We'll supply the burgers, dogs & beverages; you bring a side dish or dessert to share.
Following the meeting, Bruce Bennett of Kent Greenhouse & Gardens will speak to the group about Fall perennials and what you can do to keep your garden looking colorful all summer long.
Share the fun, invite your neighbors. It's time everyone knew about the Merwinsville Hotel.

Christmas in Gaylordville at the Merwinsville Hotel
The Hotel is once again magically transformed into Santa's Gift Workshop and Mrs. Claus Bakery & Cafe.
Friday evening, we will be holding a holiday party, complete with picks and drinks & merriment and song. $10 donation please.
Saturday & Sunday, we open our doors from 10 am to 5 pm (free to the public).
Story Time is at 11:00 am both days.
We've invited many new artists and craftspeople with holiday gifts for sale. We have a vintage electric train set up as well as villages, nutcrackers, carolers & decorated christmas trees.
The cafe will feature delicious sweets, soups, chili and more.
You never know when Santa's younger brother, Nathan, will show up.
Perfect for the whole family.

Columbus Weekend Art & Crafts Show

Friday evening "Meet The Artist" reception. 
This year, we will again be hosting a private opening night gala reception for members, friends, and the press to meet with the artists.   Hors d’oeurves, drinks and a lot of fun.  At Friday night’s reception, we will be collecting a $20.00 tax deductible donation for the benefit of the Hotel.

Open Saturday, Sunday & Monday. $1 donation. Children free.

Each year we strive to add new artists, new craftspeople  and attract new guests visiting the Hotel for the first time.  Mark your calendars.

Saturday Night Movies Under The Stars is back... and it's free
Pack a picnic, bring blankets and lawn chairs...don't forget the bug spray and sit under the stars along the tracks and watch a movie.
Don't want to get a babysitter? Bring your children and they can watch a movie inside on the TV (We'll supply the supervision).  

July 11th -
Prior to the movie, we will be having our Summer General Membership Meeting (7:30 p.m.) We'll update everyone on the ballroom restoration progress as well as future hotel events.

Spring Clean Up
Join us as we wash windows, dust and vacuum the interior of the hotel as we rake, prune and weed the exterior.
All are welcome. Bring any of your favorite implements that you like working with.

 General Membership Meeting
Join us as we celebrate Spring with a special guest speaker, landscape designer, Jane Brook Barba on Historic Home Gardens. 
We will also reveal our first artistic rendering of our ballroom as well as update everyone on our restoration plans and activities planned for Spring & Summer.
This will be a Pot Luck Dinner, so bring a dessert or side dish to share, and we will provide burgers, dogs & soft drinks. Edit

 The Merwinsville Hotel is proud to present an operatic concert performance of ‘Zoe’s Musical Fairy Tale, Upon A Time’, written, composed and performed by Zoe Vandermeer, with Timothy Alexandre Wallace, narrator, keyboard.
Spend time with Zoe and Timothy sharing a glass of wine & cheese after the concert.

Christmas in Gaylordsville
The Merwinsville Hotel, once again is transformed into a magical winter wonderland for just one weekend.  See wonderful christmas villages and collections of nutcrackers, Santa's and carolers.  New this year is a 1950's "O" guage model train, courtesy of Al Boroughs, that will be circling a decorated Christmas tree.  Work on your holiday gift list with a great selection of art, crafts, weaving, photography, birdhouses and a lot more, all from local artists.  Relax in Mrs. Klaus' bakery and cafe for a morning or afternoon treat.
Join us Friday evening for a holiday reception with hor d'oeuvres, bounty table, desserts and beverages... plus a first look at all the artists work.  $10 donation.  Saturday & Sunday - admission is free. Visa/MasterCard accepted.

Do you believe in Ghosts? 
Whether you definitely do, or just maybe do, or aren't quite sure; then the Merwinsville Hotel is where you want to be on Saturday, November 1st, 8:00pm (Day after Halloween) when Paranormal investigators Kim Dumouchel and John "Bill" Cody will be conducting a Haunting Investigation at the Hotel.
If you've ever watched TAPS, this is the real thing... Equipment and all.

In order to enhance the experience for all the participants, we are limiting the number of people that can attend, so please RSVP ASAP.
There is no fee, however donations towards our restoration are always welcome.
 
Detailed below is a short list of supplies you may wish to bring along for the investigation and tips, including:
*
Wear very comfortable clothing (sweats, jeans, t-shirts, sneakers or other "quiet shoes").  Bring an extra jacket, sweatshirt or dress in layers to add or remove. 
*
Bring anything that you feel you might need for headaches, indigestion, scrapes or for any known medical conditions
*
Drinks such as water, soda, coffee, energy drinks, juice, etc.
*
Snacks - yes!  Always great!!!!
*
No smoking inside or close to the investigation site, as it can taint your pictures and evidence
*
Cell phone - a way to communicate in case of an emergency or to use in the camera mode
*
Flashlights, a Watch to record timeline, Paper/note pad, Pen, Pencil
*
Tote bag to carry items from location to location in the building 
*
Equipment:  Cameras of any type, Camcorders with night mode (optional tripod), Digital recorders, Analog (tape) recorder with
external microphone and NEW tapes - only record on one side, due to "bleed through", Temperature and 
EMF gauges (if owned), extra charged/new batteries for any equipment you bring.

Schedule for the Evening:
8:00 pm - 8:15 pm   Welcome and mini history of the building and restoration update; Consume those snacks and beverages!
8:15 pm - 8:35 pm   This will be a brief session (from Kim) about some basic rules, safety reminders, equipment and terminology we will be using throughout the investigation, plus tip/pointers and any final questions/answers.
8:35 pm - 8:50 pm  Tour of the building with lights on
8:50 pm - 9:00 pm  Break - for bathroom, beverages, snacks, etc. 
9:00 pm - ???   Go dark and begin investigation!

We will investigate various locations,throughout the evening, usually 45-50 minutes at each location. 

Note***  Investigations often run until 2:00 am.  People may stay or leave, as desired!
