Thanks to this year's generous donation from the New Milford Commission on the Arts, the Merwinsville Hotel has kicked off the 2024 Glass Orb Scavenger Hunt that we kicked off in '21 (in celebration of the Hotel's 50th anniversary of the restoration project). There are 76 clear and 24 colored glass orbs (for 2024!), created by Glassblowers Leslie French and Andy Pyle from Nunwell Glass in Lakeville, CT , that are hidden among 25 area historic sites and organizations in the Litchfield and Fairfield County area. The orbs are numbered, dated, and stamped with "MHR".
The rules are simple....If you find one, you get to keep it! Just be sure to register it here. If you find another one, please leave it (or re-hide it) for someone else to find.
We want to thank all 25 sites that are participating (at no cost to them other than coming up with a great place to hide the orbs). By inviting other non-profits to take part in our "hunt", we can all benefit. It's so important for all our local non-profits to continue to thrive and to grow - especially after being "on pause" due to the pandemic. We hope this event will be a way to help achieve that.
We want to give a BIG shout out to the New Milford Commission on the Arts for their generous donation to help offset the cost to hold this event! Thank you so much for supporting us!
Some of the other participating organizations include New Milford Historical Society, Gallery 25 (in New Milford), Brookfield Craft Center, Kent Historical Society, Litchfield Historical Society, Danbury Railway Museum, and more!
