The Hotel offers three annual craft and fine art shows timed with holidays. The shows are held in May just before Mother’s Day, in October for Columbus Day weekend and in late November/early December in preparation for Christmas. Each of the shows spans two weekends.
The shows are beneficial to the Hotel as well as the local art scene. Local artists and artisans have the opportunity to showcase their work in a venue that is accessible to the public on a regular schedule. The Hotel hosts some artists each year but also invites new artisans to showcase their work.
In each case, the artist pays an entry fee and the hotel is given a commission for each piece sold, and the artist receives the rest.
"These kinds of events have been really successful for us," said President Jeremy Ruman, adding it is nice for people to be buying local art in various forms. "You’re buying something made by someone and something that is really a quality gift at whatever price point."
The Hotel is open for tours on Sunday afternoons, 2 to 4 pm, in July and August. We also offer an annual meeting and presentation in the fall, usually in September, when a guest is invited to speak and we share a potluck meal together.
